So you guys write in, we answered the questions. We have a little crystal ball that sees all things oil and gas. We were joking about it on the mic. |
| 0:38.0 | It's like, suddenly y'all out there think we really do have a crystal ball because we don't. But before we get in that, if you like the show, do me a favor. Leave a review. We have a great review here. Literally, it says, great. I've been listening to this podcast for quite a while now, and I have to say that Jake and Mark do a great job covering the big news in the industry. |

All right, Jake, first Friday Q&A, let's get in questions. All right. First question is from Jason CFO at Sierra Pine Resources International. He writes, what is your take on the recent success of the Utah lease sale? And then I'll go set up, I'll go ahead and say a second question too. Are the operators entering this field taking a gamble in hopes of hitting large undiscovered reserves? or is this a legitimate play in a field that |
| 1:28.0 | was previously inaccessible? Love the show, Jason. I don't know if we should be answering investment |
| 1:32.8 | questions to a CFO. Somehow it seems like it's a conflict of potential interest or something. |
| 1:38.5 | So the whole thing is, Jason, don't use what we have to say for investment advice. |
| 1:43.3 | What I think the success, Utah at lease sale, I think it's a natural progression, right? |
| 1:47.5 | So they had, what, 51, 52,000 acres that was auctioned off. |
| 1:51.6 | This is all part of our current administration opening up lands. |
| 1:54.5 | You know, it's really close to a national monument. |
| 1:57.4 | I can't remember what it's called. |
| 1:58.7 | But there is a lot of hydrocarbons there. |
| 2:00.5 | And that area, Utah is not one of the most economically viable states in the U.S. And that part of Utah is really honestly one of its poorest counties. So you're talking about bringing jobs and not just any jobs, but good high paying jobs to an area of the state that could really use the revenue. They could really use the money, right? |
| 2:18.2 | And so, you know, you have the typical environmental people out there saying that, you know, most of these have some type of threatened species and they're not going to sit idly by, stop it, right? This is, you know, BLM's leasing this land out. We can do this economically. We can do it environmentally friendly. In fact, we can walk away |
| 2:34.5 | from that land after we finish production and leave it in a better shape before we got there. |
| 2:38.8 | And in the process, we're going to create jobs with people that live in that part of the state. |
