For the first time, a Democratic senator has called for President Biden to exit from the presidential race as Biden's

wall of support for his re-election bid began to crumble yesterday.

Party heavyweight Senator Peter Welch of Vermont, said that Biden should withdraw, quote,

for the good of the country, adding that his constituents are worried that Biden can't win this time and they're terrified of another Trump presidency.

Writing in the Washington Post, Welch pointed to Vice President Carmah Harris as a capable successor.
