In our previous episode, we heard how on November 15, 1972, the IRA had landed its first ever consignment of weapons from Colonel Gaddafi.

We had to strip out the interior of the plane to accommodate the shipment.

After an aborted attempt to land into Farrinfor Airport, this plane arrived into Shannon Airport

and on board the first ever shipment of arms received by the Provisional IRA.

25 RPG 7 launchers and 496 warheads which weighed 2.5 tonnes.

These weapons, which had begun their journey months earlier at a military town to the east of Moscow,

were now about to be hidden throughout the Irish countryside.

They then proceeded into the SRS hangar, where the aircraft was, unloaded the weapons,

and drove out through the customs checkpoints waving to those inside.

The weapons were taken away and putting safe, hiding places.

At the end of Part 1, we heard how pilots Isaac Stefanski and Harold Harrison had landed into

Shannon Airport on November 15, 1972, with Gaddafi's first consignment of weapons on board.

They were now waiting to fly back home to Toronto

in Canada. Des Long, as Director of Finance and the IRA, he controlled all the cash, including

what he was about to give to Dennis McInerney. My involvement was, I met Dennis McInerney,

and I gave him $5,000, which was to be the cost of the fuel for the next.

There were three more trips on in Libya.

The Director of Finance gave me $5,000, which I gave to Isaac Stavinsky.

We arranged a date where they would fly back to Libya and I would meet them there.

That operation was supposed to be the first of four such journeys.
