Hi everybody, Dennis Prager here for FireSide Chat number 253. 254. 254. By the way, it kills me that one was missed.

0:12.0

In five years, including two years of COVID lockdown, et cetera, it was a source of great pride to me that we would never miss one.

0:25.0

People came in in the beginning in the most intense period of lockdown. We all gathered in this room. Nobody gave a hoot.

0:37.0

We missed one because I had COVID and I just, I guess I felt odd about people coming in if they felt uncomfortable.

0:52.0

But I was fine enough to do even with COVID. I had two COVIDs and I didn't miss one. Anyway, it's 253. Great to be with you. This is Otto. I have no idea if Otto is going to stay the entire podcast.

1:08.0

It's the FireSide Chat. It's great to be with you. The uniqueness of the FireSide Chat. Well, a uniqueness.

1:16.0

There are many reasons I think it's unique. But one is it's just so spontaneous. It's just a way to communicate with you, take your questions from folks all over the world.

1:31.0

And did I say my name because I'm supposed to every time? Did I say I'm Dennis Prager? I am Dennis Prager. This is Otto.

1:39.0

I want to talk to you about fear. I'm going to take your questions. It's such a big issue. So huge.

1:52.0

It's almost one can say if not the one of the one or two or three most animating impulses in human life. Love, anger, hate, loyalty, religion, fear is up there.

2:16.0

And the reason that I'm raising it today is that I had on my radio show. For those of you who don't know, I have a national radio show. You could listen, slash, watch it anywhere in the world. Very easy. Go to Dennis Prager.com.

2:31.0

I'm going to listen to the show. And I had a guest. A man I have great, great admiration for. He is a psychiatrist in Los Angeles. Mark McDonald.

2:46.0

Oh, I got scared that he was getting up already. If he stays 15 minutes, I could live with it for the first three minutes.

2:55.0

Mark McDonald is a psychiatrist. So to be a psychiatrist, in case you don't know, you have to be an MD medical doctor. Psychologists are not medical doctors. Psychiatrists are.

3:06.0

And he wrote a book just now. Freedom from fear. Correct.

3:13.0

And it's an important little book. It's a 12 step program to stop your addiction, as he calls it, like people are addicted to drugs. They're addicted to fear.

3:27.0

He has a very interesting thesis on that, which I hope I will remember to come back to.

3:33.0

So we discussed fear. And this, this psychiatrist did an interesting thing. He declared himself a dissenter on COVID and on therapeutics from the rest of much of the medical community.

3:56.0

And he's got a lot of therapeutics, meaning things like hydroxychloroquine with zinc and Ivermectin.

4:04.0

And he's gotten threats that he'll lose his license, which is unbelievable. A doctor cannot recommend one of the safest drugs we have.

4:14.0

Maybe he's wrong, but maybe he's right. Isn't a doctor allowed to prescribe for a patient what he or she thinks will help the patient.

4:26.0

So he came out of the club. Well, I don't think it was ever in the closet, but he he announced who he was.
