This is our third story for the month of January 2019,

issue 148. Aside from thanking our constant supporters,

I'm just going to jump right into the story.

Our third story is titled Fire and the Bone

and is by Ray Naylor.

Ray's story Winter Timeshare, which originally appeared in Asimov's, is upcoming in the very best of the best, 35 years of the year's best science fiction edited by Gardner Dozwa, and was collected in the Year's Best Science Fiction

35 annual collection, also edited by Gardner Dozwa, as well as in The Years's best science fiction and fantasy 2018 edited by Rich Horton.

His story Mutability, also published by Asimov's, was collected in the year's best science fiction and fantasy 2016.

Ray is a foreign service officer and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Turkmenistan.

Ray speaks Russian and Azerbaijanani and has lived and worked in Russia, Central Asia,

Afghanistan, and the Caucasus for over a decade. His most recent foreign assignment was as press attache in Baku, Azerbaijan.

He is currently studying Albanian at the Foreign Service Institute in preparation for an assignment in Pristinia, Kosovo.
