Hey everybody welcome back to cold case murder mysteries. I'm your host Ryan Kraus returning for another fascinating exploration of the criminal mind.

In this episode, we're exploring the horrific yet baffling massacre that occurred

when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of concert goers in Las Vegas back on

October 1st, 2017.

Perched high above a crowd of more than 20,000 people attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival

along the Las Vegas Strip, the gunman used adjoining hotel suites on the 32nd floor of the

Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino to terrorize and kill his unsuspecting victims who were helplessly exposed below.

By the end of this rampage, 58 people were dead and more than 800 others suffered

related injuries, over 400 of those as a result of being shot. In the end, authorities stormed the sniper's nest

only to find the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was surrounded by

weapons, far in excess of what he would need to execute the crime, and a later search of his car revealed even more. In fact, his home offered the same.

Stephen Paddock was heavily armed, to an extent one could potentially believe all of this

firepower couldn't be for him.

The official narrative of this case

in terms of what law enforcement has documented

is fairly straightforward.

But this is one of those cases with enough

superficial mystery that it opens the door to an effect similar to what you'd

experience with the JFK assassination or Jack Ruby murdering Lee Harvey

Oswald.
