Summary

This week, Kate takes on all different types of dress codes. After seeing a meme about how nothing brings women together quite like an unclear dress code, she was inspired to go through confusing and specific wedding/event dress codes, i.e. snappy casual, that coincidentally make her want to casually snap at the host. After going through some examples of listeners' unclear dress codes submitted on Instagram, she switches gears to discuss school dress codes and the unfair double standards upheld in their enforcement. She explores modern dress codes in different areas, discusses the implications of authority figures' commentary on adolescent women's bodies, the emphasis they imply on male education, and talks through some of the shockingly discriminatory language found in many dress codes. After that, she finishes off the episode by reading listener-submitted stories with her sister Kelly, about both school and wedding dress code mishaps. Enjoy!

0:27.2

told us all she had COVID used her privilege for a test scuttled off to the Hamptons and

0:31.6

showcased herself outdoors walking whilst contagious. I mean I mean I still care that she

0:36.9

did that but when we like actually care that it's just seems so long ago you know or like

0:41.6

Tiger King. Carol Baskin killed her husband Wackdam until I heard what's the guy's name

0:49.5

the bar still got Dave Portanoi say on TikTok that suit man got fired from HBO. I'd like

0:56.1

1:04.1

his face onto stupid kid from Hey Arnold. She would think that'd be memorable. I just

1:10.1

I don't know. Remember the A.O. Lee Spirit the first episode I did when we were like on lockdown.

1:16.1

Actually we had a friend come over recently and he's a wonderful friend he meant well.

1:22.9

But he basically was like yeah so I was like telling women in my office like oh my friend

1:29.1

1:33.8

But like yeah I don't know like how it went if it happened to be the week you

1:40.6

I think didn't an episode only about dipping sauces. He's trying to delicately tell me these

1:48.7

women were not returning customers and you know it's funny that that's the sort of commentary.

1:53.9

I honestly get all the time and it used to really upset me just in terms of feeling like people

1:58.5

didn't understand what I was doing or that it wasn't important enough or people weren't understanding

2:03.3

the context of what I do and then like there is a market for that like that episode did well

2:08.5

and it was really a joke kind of so something for us all to laugh about and to get our mind off
