I ran my hand down my face, utterly exhausted. Where the hell had this cold front come from?

The weather forecast had predicted a sunny and only slightly chilly weekend, but here we were, stuck in a tent with rain drizzling down on us, along with a bone-chilling wind.

Donovan, my husband, unzipped the tent flaps and crawled inside. He kicked off his boots and blew warm breath into his hands.

He knew they were my favorite, and at some point during our road trip, he must have stopped to get them. I had likely been asleep. I was touched, and a pang of longing rushed over me.

That's not all. He pulled out a bottle of warming massage oil.

The luxury brand we hadn't been able to afford in months.

It might have been too cold for a massage, but it was worth a shot.

Besides, I certainly wasn't going to reject Donovan's sweet gestures. I wanted to embrace them.
