When I took couples through pre-marriage counseling I had a couple of different

things that I used in pre-marriage counseling one was called a marriage expectation inventory.

And I would take couples and I would ask them just certain questions about their marriage.

One of the questions was how many children are you going to have?

I had a couple.

The man said six, the woman said two how many you know that's the problem and I said well

how many you gonna have he said six and she said not by me or not. That couple broke up.

That was a deal breaker for him.

Thank God they had that conversation before they got married.

But most people don't.

Is the wife going to work?

And I asked one couple that, and the woman said no,

and he said, of course you are.

Little issue there.

Who manages the money?

How much can you spend without your spouse's approval? Okay. Who will you spend

the holidays with? I asked that to one couple and she said my family, we hate his family.

And he said, excuse me?

How will you deal with in-law problems?
