My name is Christine Blackburn, and I'm here with Hanna Sfini, and we're coming to you from the Office of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.

This sounds like a terribly sad place.

It's not. It's a place where Lutherans help people with things like adoption.

Yeah, but it's like a foster care. I mean, it's like a where you drop your child off. That's just one of the many things they do. Lutherans like to be very calm and talk like this. Really? So if you, yes, Lutherans are the calm Christians. Lutherans are the ultimate Midwesterners. I thought that was the Methodists. No, that's a little too, that's a little too much with the things actually happening.

Lutherans talk like this. They never raise their voice. Really? Yes. So they have a home for

wayward children. Is that what you're saying? Yes. No, no, it's helping you adopt and that sort of thing.

And I like how it's Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Upper Michigan is the part of Michigan

that's attached to Wisconsin and doesn't touch Michigan. It's a whole, I won't even bore you with the

story. I'm already bored. You know that. Oh, well now I have to tell you about 1850. There was a problem where

Michigan, see, Wisconsin wasn't a state yet. All right, never mind. All right. Listen, we're coming to you

from this foster care place because our guest tonight, Darren Carter, you know, comedian Darren Carter, he comes forth with a topic finding my father. And when he said, this is the story I want to tell, Christine, finding my father, I thought, you know, where did you lose him? Yes. And he said, no, no, no. At the mall. It's because I didn't know who he was and I was adopted.

Right.

So that's why we know. We're talking about adoption tonight. We're talking about adoption. All right, fair enough. And I don't really know anything. I don't think I know anybody personally. You know, adoption in the United States. I know this.

It still occurs in the United States three times more often than it does

in other nations that you would call like our peers or like other nations, like,

First World Nations. England, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden,

those sorts of nations. We still have a higher- We adopt people more than-
