Over the years I've gotten to know a lot of different moms, both personally and then professionally

through the radio programming that we do here and focus on the family.

So many have been high achievers, and then they've become mom and they remain a high achiever they have high

expectations for themselves and for everybody around them and if you fit that mold we've got some advice for you.

I'm John Fuller with Danny Werta who leads our

parenting and youth department here at Focus on the Family and Jim Daly and I had a

great conversation recently with author Sarah Partial Perry who described her own struggle with perfectionism

after she left a really fast-paced job to stay at home with her kids.

The role of laughter, I could tell you have a great sense of humor.

I mean that's part of it.

But in that context for the woman who may not possess that kind of humor, for whatever reason,

why is light-heartedness and some laughter very critical to mothering?

Oh my gosh.

I mean, it's obvious, I guess.

Well, I think because your children will provide you ample opportunity for belly

laughs if you can get out of your head enough to really be present. provide you

ample opportunity for belly laughs if you can get out of your head enough to really be present with them and to enjoy the little people that they're becoming it really is amazing how three children

with the same DNA and the same parents have developed into these

completely divergent personalities.

All big by the way I'm sure also that doesn't surprise you.
