When she was just one and a half years old, Sue Thomas lost all her hearing.

But that didn't stop Sue's mother from giving her piano lessons.

Sue could feel the music through her fingers. It was so interesting to feel the music through her fingers.

It was so interesting to feel the vibrations,

different vibrations all over were I playing.

But as a kid, the novelty wore off,

and I would get up and leave and run outside to play football with my brothers

and my mom would get me and drag me back to the piano.

Those moments weren't just about piano. This mom was instilling in her daughter a hope for her future.

She would take my chin and her fingers and tilt my head so I could read the lips and say,
