Summary

In today’s episode, Melissa shares her incredible journey through her breast cancer diagnoses, the challenges she faced, and the lessons she learned along the way. Melissa highlights the importance of knowing our bodies. Her breast cancer diagnosis at 24 was a wake-up call, underscoring the value of self-exams and understanding what's normal. Approaching health with curiosity, not fear, helps us notice changes and take proactive steps. She discusses how stored emotions, particularly anger, can manifest in physical ailments. Melissa encourages us to honor our feelings and process them rather than suppressing them. By allowing ourselves to feel and express our emotions, we can prevent them from becoming trapped in our bodies, which can lead to health issues down the line.  After her experiences with cancer, Melissa became passionate about exploring holistic healing methods. She highlights the importance of integrating both conventional and alternative therapies for a more comprehensive approach to health. From dietary changes to emotional support and environmental adjustments, she believes that we have the power to influence our health positively. It's all about finding what works best for us as individuals.  Melissa's story is not only inspiring but also filled with practical advice that can help us all lead healthier, more balanced lives. that. And so welcome to the show, Melissa. Thank you, Carlin. I'm so excited to be here talking

1:02.9

about this. So originally this happened, everybody, me asking Melissa, because back in October,

1:09.8

I was like, it's breast cancer month. I want to talk to

1:13.5

somebody that has been a breast cancer survivor. But then just with our crazy schedules,

1:18.5

it never lined up for October. But here we are now doing it. And it will still be awesome.

1:23.8

It doesn't have to be October to hear from a breast cancer survivor. And I think your

1:28.2

stories are incredible. And I know people will learn things from how you healed and your journey

1:35.0

through this and things that you do now. And so what if we just delve in from the very

cancer or how did you even know you had breast cancer? Let's just start at the beginning.

1:50.7

Yeah, I think that's really helpful for people to know. How does one find out? Because I was so young.

I was 24 years old. You're 24. You're not expecting to be diagnosed with cancer. I was young. I was 24 years old. You're 24. You're not expecting to be diagnosed with cancer. I was young.

I was otherwise healthy. I did not have a family history. Contrary to what a lot of people think that

2:11.4

breast cancer, if you get it young, it's because you have a family history. That could be the case, but not necessarily.

2:19.8
