Well friends, I don't remember very much from my Old Testament year of seminary.

I was in ninth grade and honestly I was more interested in the young ladies in the class than I was the topic. One thing I do remember about ninth grade seminary is that was the year that I got kicked out of seminary one day. So if you ever happen to be an early morning seminary teacher and there's a rowdy boy in your class, Just have patience with them. Things could work out.

Another thing I remember from that year of seminary, though,

is one day the teacher came into the room.

We were studying the book of numbers,

and he wanted us to write something down

next to where it said, numbers in the title.

He said, in the margins, I want you to write in the wilderness.

Now that's a random fact to remember from your ninth grade seminary class, but it stuck

with me all these years.

It wasn't until many years later that I understood why he had told us to say that.

You see, in English, we call it the Book of Numbers based on the Greek title, based on the

Septuagint that we've talked about before.

And if you read in Numbers chapter 1, you can easily see why this is the case, right?

Number, number, number, number, it's all about numbers for much of the book.

But the Hebrew title of the Book of Numbers is different.
