Summary

Danielle and Adam have long struggled with the idea of, "The Mental Load," (the division of household and domestic responsibilities) in their marriage, so much so that they thought about separating after an enormous blowout following the recording of episode #56, The Mental Load. Danielle then turned to Eve Rodsky, THE Harvard trained expert of all things "mental load" related, and after following her advice (episode #137), things definitely improved, although there is still much work to be done. Now, Eve Rodsky is taking the next step in her mission, ensuring that women everywhere are finding themselves in a manner that has nothing to do with domestic life OR work, but rather, is rooted in creativity and "flow." How does a busy woman find time for such a passion? Eve is here to tell us, and help us understand why our identity and sense of self is dependent upon us doing so.

Hey everybody, welcome to Marriage and Martini's, I am Danielle. And today we have an episode that

1:22.0

is a follow-up to one that we did. I would say more than a year ago, I would say almost two years ago,

1:29.2

maybe, with Eve Rodzki, and when we talked about her book Fair Play, which is all about the

1:36.7

equitable division of Labour in the home. And this is a topic that for those of you who have been

1:42.4

following the podcast for a long time, or even those of you who are on Instagram and follow me,

1:49.2

this is an issue that Adam and I have struggled with so much, especially when I was a stay-at-home mom,

1:56.5

and during my transition back into working, it's just something that we grapple with all the time.

2:04.6

And now, Eve Rodzki, after Fair Play, is taking things even further because her work is never done,

2:12.8

and because she is so dedicated to making sure that women get the time and recognition,

2:19.8

and everything that we deserve, that she has a new book out called Finding Your Unicorn Space.

2:28.7

Eve Rodzki urges women to rebalance their domestic responsibilities and reclaim time for themselves.

2:36.2

Her other book Fair Play started a national conversation and launched a movement

2:41.0

toward greater equality on the home front, and then quarantine hit, and life as we knew it was

2:46.4

upended. Now, all of us are faced with an even more pressing question. How can we even, in the
