Hello and welcome to this sleepy bookshelf where we put down our worries from the day and

pick up a good book.

Having just finished the wonderful Anne of Green Gables, this is a short recap on what you

missed in the final episode just in case you fell asleep and want to know how it ends.

This is your spoiler alert.

If you haven't finished the book yet and you don't want to know the ending, stop this

episode now.

Otherwise, I'll begin.

The episode opened with Matthew standing in the doorway at Green Gables looking very pale

and clutching a newspaper.

Marilla tried to get his attention and by the time Anne had rushed into hell, Matthew had

collapsed and lay motionless on the kitchen floor.

The doctor was called for but Mrs. Lind came directly to the house and Matthew was pronounced

dead.

Sorrow fell over Green Gables and found she could not shed a tear and felt terribly about

it until the middle of the night when she awoke and remembered the sadness of the

day.

Matthew was taken from Green Gables and buried in Avonli and planted a Scotch Rose bush

from a cutting of a plant near the house originally brought from Scotland by Matthew and Marilla's

mother.

Time passed and Anne began to laugh and have fun again, learning how to smile without Matthew.
