Welcome back. It's the big blue banter New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:07.9

Join as always my coach, Nick Falado. Today we're here to break down the Giants defense on the All-22 film against the Washington commanders.

0:14.9

And their unfortunate loss in week nine to drop to two and seven, Nick. I want to start with one thing.

0:21.7

I feel like two things stood out to me.

0:24.2

The first being we criticized back in week two,

0:29.1

Shane Bowen for his game plan against Jaden Daniels.

0:32.1

Soft coverage, not a lot of blitzing, playing off.

0:35.7

And then after watching this tape, I kind of thought about it, Nick, and I was like, you know what? I take back my criticism of Shane Bowen. I got to be honest with you, man, because this game, the Giants are the opposite. They blitzed a lot, and they got killed when they blitzed a lot. And I kind of feel like it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't

situation against Jaden Daniels when you're trying to scheme to stop this guy. It's a sad reality

1:01.1

that I've come to and I hope I'm wrong about this, Nick. And again, the biggest concern we had

1:05.7

with Daniels was the injury situation profile. Can he hold up? Can he play for another 10, 15 years?

1:11.1

Can he play throughout one season? But my God, man, I don't know how you stop this guy. You can't blitz him. You can't play off coverage against him. There's no real way to beat him in my mind. The Giants had some stops in this game, Nick. But at no point did I feel like they had control over the game defensively? At no point did I feel like if the Giants can just score here to get a lead, they'll get a stop on defense. I didn't feel either of those things. I felt like Jan Daniels was toying with the Giants. I didn't even feel like watching this game. Washington went through their full arsenal on the offensive side of the ball. I thought they played the game based on the score. Based on the game script, passively, very passively it looked like on tape.

1:46.7

And so... of the ball. I thought they played the game based on the score. Yeah, based on the game script, passively, very passively, it looked like on tape.

1:53.4

And so ultimately, I felt like the defense let them down, but I also felt like there's not really any options to stop this quarterback right now.

1:57.9

God, that's scary to say out loud, dude.

2:00.4

I am very worried about facing this guy two times a year.

2:03.9

I can tell you that with certainty.

2:06.2

I think there probably are options.

2:08.1

And I don't rescind my criticism from Shane from week two.

2:11.9

Now, that doesn't mean I expected him to blitz a lot.

2:14.3

But that was Jane Daniel's second start.

2:16.5

And the way that offense was
