This week, Russia's president Vladimir Putin made a surprise visit to troops in Ukraine.

Syria!

In images released by the Kremlin, he's seen meeting and greeting commanders in the occupied regions of her son, and New Hansk.

It was his second visit in as many months, and he wasn't the only one dropping in on the troops.

Just a few hundred miles away, Ukraine's president Vladimir Zelensky also paid a visit to the front line.

In the small eastern city in the Donetsk province, he was shown briefing commanders and handing out awards to soldiers.

The visit comes at a time when all eyes are on Ukrainian forces.

After with standing a grueling winter assault in the Donbass region, many think they're ready to mount a counteroffensive of their own.

But how that might unfold is less than clear.

Ukraine is planning a big counteroffensive.

We don't know where, we don't know when, we don't know what it will look like, but we know it's coming.

There's a really palpable sense that this could be the decisive moment in the conflict.

This could be Ukraine's chance at getting back lots of its territory and breaking the back of the Russian army in Ukraine.
