Oblifting WayofM. Here's what's going on today. If you're planning to fly

United Airlines this Thanksgiving or Christmas season, don't be surprised if you

see a few middle seats marked with a laminated sign that says these seats are

out of service. You may be wondering, well why are they out of service? I don't

understand. Well, it's due to a decision that was made by United Airlines. So

between now and April 30th of next year, at least six middle seats will be

blocked off due to the holiday weight passengers will put on. Is that

because they don't want to have more heavy people on the flights and it messes

with the weight of the plane? What's the reason? Well, they need it. They need

to meet the weight and the balance requirements for a flight. Okay. And you

can't do that with the way people are putting on the weight. So they gathered

a bunch of numbers. Okay. So according to this article, the average weight

both male and female passengers will put on has increased over the years. So

for instance, back in 2019, during the holiday season, the average female weighed

150 pounds. Okay. But now in 2022, that weight has gone up to 184.
