Promise. The The first thing I remember was the droning, a sort of high frequency hum. I stirred in my seat, tried to figure out what it was. It was like a strange

presence needling my consciousness.

Slowly I opened my eyes.

70 or 80 men and women were sitting around in what seemed to be a long aluminum and

plastics living room. A dozen or more were dancing to the music that seemed to come

from nowhere. I discovered I was seated in a deep sofa.

There was a woman beside me.

Suddenly she turned toward the window and inadvertently touched me.

She drew away from me.

Oh, I didn't see you.

I didn't know. I wasn't aware that anybody was here.

I just looked at her. I hadn't seen you aboard. Aboard?
