And today, if I sound a little deadpan, it's in honor of one of my favorite fictional feminists, Darya Morgan-Dorker.

If you listen to our episode on Lisa Simpson, you're a little familiar with this series that we're doing,

we're calling fictional feminists, exploring all the lovely women that have made us the feminists that we are from popular culture.

And I will have to be the first to admit, confession here.

I never really got Darya.

Dun dun dun dun.

How can that be?

I don't know. I just, I mean, I love.

And we're going to talk through all the ways in which Darya was so emblematic of the 90s,

because I think she really was the feminists that MTV needed at the time that they put her on air.

But I just, I could never get into the deadpan thing, probably because I care about all the things.

So I've always been like overly intense in my style of living, and I'm much more of a Lisa than a Darya.

You're the Lisa to my Darya.

I don't know that I identify with Darya's kind of apathetic side, but that's what we're going to impact today,

that while she comes off as seeming apathetic and cynical,

actually that mess a very hopeful worldview that actually cares quite a bit about the world around her.

Right.

And I think at the end of the day, it was all about representation.

Like it's important that women like Darya get screen time.
