We have a potentially confusing passage that he is the one to illuminate for us.

So, Lord God, we do ask you for clarity as we read this passage that at first glance looks

confusing, but as we get into it, we see is very, very helpful. We ask you to teach us in Jesus' name.

Amen. All right, friends, now the setting for our passage today is that

Jesus himself had brought up the person of John the Baptist. And he was asking questions about

how people perceived John the Baptist. And now here's where Jesus begins commenting after they had

responded. He says, truly, I say to you,

among those board of women, there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet,

the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the

Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has suffered
