Summary
I sit down with fertility specialist Gabriela Rosa for a blunt, science-driven conversation about what’s really happening to our reproductive health. We get into why fertility challenges are rising, how men contribute fifty percent of the equation, and the lifestyle choices that quietly sabotage conception.
I also explore the emotional and relational pressures couples face when trying to conceive, along with practical steps to improve fertility before pregnancy even begins. This is one of the most eye-opening fertility discussions I’ve had on the show.

| 0:00.0 | All right, Gabriela, welcome to The Man Talk Show. How are you doing today? |
| 0:09.5 | Very well. Thank you so much for having me. |
| 0:11.9 | So fertility, what is happening with our ability to reproduce? What's going on? |
| 0:18.9 | There's a lot of conversations around it. It's like in the news, I think a lot of men, I mean, on my show in the past, I've talked |
| 0:26.0 | about how, I mean, I haven't personally talked about it. Guests that I've had on the show have |
| 0:31.3 | talked about how, you know, sperm counts are down, testosterone's down. And it seems like |
| 0:37.2 | more people I talk to, the more that people |
| 0:40.3 | talk about having challenges with, you know, conceiving. And I had, I had a gentleman on the show |
| 0:49.5 | that talked about how, you know, your, like your sperm count was a good indicator of health as a man, |
| 1:00.6 | which I thought was very interesting. So it seems like there's a lot of things playing in, |
| 1:04.1 | but maybe give us the broad picture. What's happening with fertility? Yeah, I think it's such an |
| 1:09.6 | important part of health, really. It's a proxy |
| 1:13.5 | marker and a health indicator, you know, in terms of what our quality of life is going to be in |
| 1:20.4 | the future is very much determined by what's happening, reproductively speaking. And I love |
| 1:26.1 | having a male captive audience to have this conversation, |
| 1:30.0 | I will say. And the reason is that, you know, fertility very much, when it becomes medicalized, |
| 1:36.0 | and often it is the case that it becomes medicalized when it hasn't been easy, |
| 1:41.7 | it becomes very female-centered conversation, you know, in terms of it's a woman's |
| 1:49.0 | issue for the most part in most people's minds. And yet, it really isn't. You know, fertility is a team |
| 1:57.1 | sport. It requires, you know, so many things to go right for us to be able to deliver a |
| 2:04.3 | healthy baby at the end of this. And I say us because, you know, fertility really is 40% to do |
| 2:09.9 | with female factor, 40% to do with male factor, and 20% to do with embryonic and other factors. |
