These guys know how to connect with you about Boston sports.

Say that more slowly because I'm stupid. Pelker and Maher's on 985, the Sports Hub. If Peter Shirelli were still here, what would that do they know Char contract look like? Three years, 15 per. That's what we said. To me, I think not 15 per. 15 total, yeah. I don't know. Don't put it past them. Instead of one at five, I think that would have been three at 13 or something like this. So thank God, Peter's not here to overextend. And, you know, it would have been three and 13 with a full no movement. Don't forget that. So the Zadano Char, I'm glad that we signed him. I think he earns it. I think he earned it this year.

I think he looks better this year than he has in the last couple. I like him more and more. Every single day that goes on, I like him more. I see his value. He feels more like a captain to me every day that goes forward. More of an elder statesman, more of a role guy with oozing with leadership and intangibles and like all that. I'm all in Ancharra.

I'm glad they signed them.

I love it's one year.

1:46.1

I think it's a slight overpay, just a smidge. He was $4 million this year. Oh, that was his cap hit. Was his salary on his cap hit? Whatever. I think he was one year four million this year, which I would have liked to see them keep. Like, I would like to see them on a series of rolling one-year extensions for four million. So they gave him five plus incentives, which feels a little much, but I'm not going to complain. Because it's one year and not three, which is why I think we would have gotten under the old guy. No, I think they're doing it the right way. I mean, if he looks like he has looked like this year, then you give him another year. And the good news is it, to me, it feels like, obviously, Char is on board with that. And if you're in the same spot next year, you do it again. All right. That's right. It should be a series of rolling one-year deals as long as he wants to do it. He looks right like he can do it, and boom, there it is. So that and all your phone calls from today.

1:47.6

Dan in Providence on Johnny Mansell.

2:01.5

You want him? Yeah. I mean, to me, it's not really a high risk. Real quick, I wanted to bring up another call earlier in a row. Our time is the dynasty is over, like boo-hoo. It's like you have to cry it into his life, like, oh, what happened? Just be thankfully, you've got the time he did. Anyway, for Mansell, I don't see what there is really to risk. I mean, especially if you could grab him and then draft a QB in a second round or whatever it is. He has the physical ability. Obviously, tweaking is needed, and playing behind Brady is perfect. Plus behind Brady, there's no pressure on him. You have that kind of

2:20.9

shadow with a star, you know, taking the microscope off you. And the other thing that I think is unfairly overlooked is this isn't just the guy who was a partier. He gets the label because, you know, he was the darling at Texas A&M, but this is a guy who's been suffering a serious mental illness that he's finally come to terms with. And bipolar is not just something you sweep under the rug. And you look at guys like Brandon Marshall or even the receiver on the Eagles who had anxiety, like how much they've improved after, you know, they have these situations sorted out. So I think a good system will, you know, fix these off-field. and if it doesn't, it's not like you're going to invest millions of dollars in them. Okay. So I have a hard time with that second thing, because let's not leave out personal responsibility. I mean, Johnny Mansell's responsible for the decisions that he made and the choices that he made with his life and where he went with his life. He's responsible.

3:21.6

So, like, I just hate taking that out of the equation, which makes, you know, so it's not just as simple as medicating him. You know, he still has to do the right thing and want to do the right thing, and his heart and his head have to be in the right place, and that's on him. Yeah, for most of the last five years, he acted like a rich spoiled a hole. Yeah. Don't let them off the hook for that. You know, what, when diagnosed that is what?

3:25.1

Rich spoiled a-holeism.

3:26.5

Rich, spoiled a-olism, exactly. So, like, there's that. But the first, what's the risk? The risk is the sideshow. But this place... No, no, they do that well, though. Is the place that's best suited to deal with that crap?

3:41.2

Oh, yeah, nobody can kill a side show like Belichick.

3:43.8

Seriously.

3:44.5

See, but this is another reason why I think that he's sort of, Belichick's the guy Mansell needs.

3:51.1

Belichick is hardcore, no nonsense.

3:53.8

Commit, commit, commit, commit.

3:55.8

And if you have a guy that has those kinds of problems

3:58.4

he needs someone that's going to draw lines and boundaries here's the job do you want to do

4:03.9

it or not if the kid says yes give it a shot once he screws up bye bye it's over you'll lay

4:11.1

that out and give it a shot so frankly i'm not really worried about that about that piece. I just, can he play? Can he play? See, I think, I mean, there's ability there. There is. I'm not saying he's Dan Marino, but there's ability there. I don't think he's a complete bum. Justin has a Bruins thought for us on last night. What is it, Justin? Hey, hey, Felger. Um, so a lot of Bruins fans are blaming

4:32.6

Hadobin for the game, and I just want to say that we wouldn't have been in that game
