All right, I feel the NHL is finally narrowing something down.

And I like it.

And I like their proposal.

And I'll tell you what I like most about it.

Now, the thing I was fighting against to begin with was too big of a playoff field.

But they have this whole thing.

They have this whole problem where there were bubble teams.

There were still whatever, 10, 11, 12 games left in the season, depending on the team.

And if it ended today, there were some teams outside the bubble that still had

games in hand, that by points percentage would have been in the playoffs, but by pure

points were out of the playoffs.

Plus, there was still time in the regular season, so teams that had not been eliminated

yet still had a chance to make the playoffs.

So the NHLs had a problem appeasing all of those teams.

So their solution is a 24-team playoff, which sounds absurd on the face of it, but what's

the alternative?

The alternative is to bring all 31 teams back and play out the remainder of the regular
