how's going guys um you guys talking about a lack of depth on the team seemingly the roster top end talent i look at i'm not worried about the offense or the drama it's the secondary in lineback and core wasn't good enough last year they certainly didn't improve those areas i like the defensive line i think that's going to be good is that going to make the other two units better i mean i think that's going to be the achilles heel again you know history repeating itself. What do you guys think? Okay. I think the defense has a chance to be better. I mean, I think that's going to be the kill we see again, you know, history repeating itself.

0:54.8

What do you guys think?

0:55.2

Okay.

0:57.3

I think the defense has a chance to be better. I don't know why I'm more worried about the offensive, you know, weapons around Tom Brady than I am the defense, which, again, on the face of it, didn't do much to improve other than if you want to just consider health of Hightower and a guy like Rivers coming back

1:11.2

and a pass rush making the secondary better, which happens. But I don't know. I just look at the receiving core around Brady and go, I mean, there's got to be a tipping point there at some point, right? Yeah, you know why you feel that way? Because you wonder if it's good enough to cover up for the defense. That's why. In the past, we never had to ask that question. During the regular season, their offense has always been good enough to cover up for the defense. And then they'd run into problems in the playoffs. But now they have that question on top of it. So, like, look, I just think in a lot of ways, I know we were saying earlier that the year would have been a lot more interesting if Garoppolo with a quarterback in some ways. But I do look at this year and say, this one feels to me a little bit more uncertain in a lot of ways than a lot of others. A higher degree of difficulty? Yes, there's just a lot going on. I mean, you have the whole quarterback coach dynamic. You've got a transition going on on the roster to try to integrate some young talent.

2:03.1

McDaniels is waiting in the wings.

2:05.1

Like it feels like they're vulnerable on offense more so than they have been in recent years.

2:09.6

Me-Mah, they're trying to restock and rebuild a couple of places on defense.

2:13.3

Like, I still think there's a lot to really dig into there.

2:16.8

To me, it's a, you know, they're on, I don't want, shaky grounds too strong a term, but they are, you know, they're a little more unsteady than they have been in other years at this time. Mass was referencing, we had a caller in the first hour say that he was experiencing Patriots fatigue, sick of all the blowouts, sick of the same thing every year,

2:35.5

and is ready for them to turn the page, even that means they have to rebuild a little bit and win with different people,

2:40.3

that that caller was ready for it. That's what he said, the caller said. And I just asked these guys,

2:45.6

would it be more interesting right now? Would the Patriots be a more interesting story if Jimmy Garoppola were the starting quarterback and Brady were gone?

2:53.6

And they were turning the page and starting over with Jimmy Garoppola.

2:54.0

Yes.

2:55.2

And you all said yes.

3:05.9

Even I think Murray said yes. Yeah, I guess for talk radio, but I don't want that. I want the dominance. I want Brady to continue to play at the level he's played at these last couple of years. I want these useless games against the Jets and the rest of the teams in this division.
