Paul Perillo's alongside Matt McCarthy here to give us headlines. It's been a long week, Paul. The voice is going. Yeah, I can hear it. An agenda free Friday, again, brought to you by Planet Fitness, the world judges they don't. Check them out at planetfitness.com. We'll get right back to your phone calls here. There's a lot to get to. It's been a busy week, really, when you think of it. For this time of year, especially.

0:56.6

I mean, the whole week started with the Brady-Ben Volan exchange from the weekend. We just, you know, that happened last weekend, but we didn't have a chance to get to it. The Chris Sale injury, the trading deadline. If you want to go there, Rick Middleton's number being retired, the MLB trade deadline, obviously all kinds of stuff coming out of Patriots camp, this series with the Yankees. So the Phillies are in town, a lot going on for this time of year, usually. Or a lot more than this time of year. Don is in Springfield. Don, go ahead. Hey, how are you doing, Matt? Good. And by the way, personally, I know Mike Trombay, so I'm going to ask about that game. Yeah, asking him, I'm telling you, it was absolutely brutal. The worst thing I've ever seen. I'm going to ask if that was his worst game ever pitch it. Anyways, I got a question. Why does this media in this town in Boston always want to keep going backwards instead of let's looking forward.

1:45.9

We've just lost a Super Bowl.

1:49.7

Paul, what do we need to do to improve on both sides of the ball?

1:54.6

We've lost a lot of key players here, and we're bringing in a bunch of retreads from guys that have already been cut already, and we're not even in the first week of preseason.

1:58.4

What do we do?

1:59.4

How do we prove to get this team back on track? Just remember, if Brady goes down, what do we do on quarterback? And thank God that Gronk never retired because we'd be all done right now. Okay, Paul, go ahead. I mean, I don't really think there's anything there that I would necessarily disagree with. I don't think the team right now, as constituted is as strong as the one that finished the season. I do think there are some areas that they've added to. And I sort of touched on them early in the show. Defensively, I think they have a chance to be better up front. I think Adrian Claiborne, I think looks like a good solid free agent edition at a spot where they haven't

2:35.9

really had many of those. Lawrence Guy, he looks like he's sort of a better player than he was

2:42.3

in the first year in the program. And I mentioned Dietrich Wise. I think that front can be better

2:47.7

than last year and that can do wonders for you because I think that covers up a lot of sort of weaknesses that could take place in the back end. Offensively, I think they lack depth. And we haven't really said that for a long time. Now, I think Brady will cover up for that. I think when Edelman comes back and as long as Gronk is healthy, but that's a big if. So you're talking depth. The Gronk health. I don't think they have depth of weapons.

3:08.9

Okay.

3:09.2

So you're talking largely in the receiving corps, right?

3:12.0

I mean, how many running backs they have a kid in Paul? They have a good amount of running backs, but look at the, look, it's happening already. I mean, Sony and Michelle goes down with an injury. Mike Gillisley has already been out of the training camp lineup and now he's back in.

3:23.5

He was back in full go today.

3:26.2

Rex Burkhead is a guy who's had durability issues throughout. out of the training camp lineup and now he's back in. He was back in full go today.
