| 0:30.0 | So, one thing I vividly remember from my time on retreat, this has been |
| 0:46.3 | true for any retreat, but specifically in Burma, which was an extended retreat, |
| 0:52.2 | was that there was an ability to quickly and fully experience whatever was |
| 1:01.4 | moving through my mind and body. Thoughts, yes, but more specifically the physical |
| 1:09.8 | experiences, emotions, physical pains and sensations, and the early stages of |
| 1:17.4 | that retreat and the practice. So, a lot of it felt like it lingered, but as my |
| 1:23.1 | awareness and presence got sharper and more able to fully hold and envelop |
| 1:30.4 | experience, those experiences were more deeply experienced, and because of that |
| 1:39.9 | were more quickly integrated and released. Now you might think that you don't |
| 1:46.9 | feel or experience much in a monastery, but it's not true. There are still a |
| 1:53.9 | lot of little activating events and a lot of different emotional experiences |
| 1:59.4 | that come up that range from deep peace, joy, gratitude to deep sadness, despair, |
| 2:08.1 | loneliness, fear and grief. So, you really get a front receipt to the full |
| 2:14.3 | spectrum of the human experience when you're paying that close attention to |
| 2:19.4 | your experience. And if there was an experience that was lingering for a while, |
| 2:25.4 | a sense of stress, a sense of sadness, a sense of fear, I slowly learned that it |
| 2:32.7 | was because I wasn't fully connecting with it, experiencing it and making |
| 2:39.2 | contact with it. That actually feels key, making contact with it, touching the |
