I'm 5,000 miles from home in search of ingredients. My destination, a village so remote and

its visitors so rare, getting close can trigger a welcome party that's joyful, smiling, and noisy.

I'm in the state of Megalaya, Northeast India, a region that's home to an array of indigenous tribes.

At this particular village, I'm a guest of the Cassie people.

And as you can hear, the welcome party has arrived with drums which is a good thing

because to a steady beat we're going to head down a winding stone path on a long trek to a hidden village.

How many steps in total?

It might be 2,500 step.

It must be halfway down the two and a half thousand steps that I'm told will take me to the village of Nangtrau.

It's taking into a valley surrounded by lush green steep hills and I'm told there are

fewer than 200 people who live in this village and because of the distance that I'm now having to cover,

they produce much of their own food.

There's also an interesting story underway of a food that they used to have they lost they're trying to
