I'm joined by my esteemed colleague Charlotte Hindle who's been looking at the many questions

that you are sending in about names on bookings and mostly when they are wrong.

So if we just look at flights first of all and if you are the person who has booked

your flight direct with the airline online, you know for yourself or for your friends,

and you have spelt a name incorrectly.

What happens?

What can you do?

And is there some type of fee that you need to pay in order to change that name?

And does it matter?

It does matter a lot to the airlines.

So yes, they will say we want your ticket to match exactly what it says on your

passport. And it might be that you're called Harry by everybody, but actually it says Harold on your

passport. Now, assuming that you pick that up immediately, there is generally no problem. British

Airways, for example, will cancel or change any booking within 24 hours, as long as you've made it

direct at BA.com. Other airlines, Ryanair, will letters up to three letters in your name

if you've done something silly like reversing your first and last names

or you've got muz instead of mister then again those can be very easily changed

but the ideal is to get them done immediately so that there's no charge.

Otherwise you might be told there's going to be a charge but actually most airlines can sort

this out fairly easily at the airport.

Okay, when you say immediately, what do you mean?
