Hi, friends. I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament and the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.

We'll read three chapters a day, usually, in finish in 30 days, usually.

So each month this year we'll read all four books. February will obviously be a little different as we will finish in 28 days.

So a few days we're going to read a little bit extra. Go ahead and subscribe today and join us as we read the Gospels together.

I hope you'll be with us all month, but something we say around here a lot is you don't have to read or hear the Gospels every day to be changed.

But every day you read or hear the Gospels will change you. So I'm really glad you're here with us today.

This month we'll be reading from the English standard version and we'll be reading in the order that the Gospels are presented in the Bible.

That's Matthew and then Mark and then Luke and then John.

So today is February 2nd day two and I'll be reading Matthew chapters four through six and the translation I'm reading from this month is the ESV.

Matthew chapter four, then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

And after fasting 40 days and 40 nights, he was hungry and the tempter came and said to him, if you are the son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.

But he answered, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him,

if you are the son of God, throw yourself down for it is written, he will command his angels concerning you.
