Summary

Storm Eunice will create mayhem for travellers on the roads, railways and seas throughout the Southern half of the UK from around dawn on Friday 18th February. Most train operators are encouraging passengers to travel either today or after the storm has passed, warning of delays and fewer trains. A 50mph speed limit will also be imposed on rail services in affected areas due to safety concerns about debris falling onto the tracks. In Wales, all trains will be cancelled and ferries will also be affected, with links from Fishguard to Rosslare being cancelled. The Met Office has issued a Red Weather Warning for Storm Eunice, which is expected to cause winds in excess of 90mph. So if you do have to travel, be careful out there and stay safe.

And I must start with a warning about travel on Friday the 18th of February. If you're in the southern half of the UK, please don't try to

0:27.2

travel. There is going to be mayhem on the railways, on the roads, on the high seas and I think

0:35.2

they will be really quite high. It's only the aircraft flights,

0:40.2

which at the moment we're not quite sure of the degree of disruption. This is all because of

0:45.6

Storm Eunice, of course. We've had overnight the experience of Storm Dudley coming in and

0:53.6

effectively scuppering all trains in Scotland from about

0:58.2

4pm on Wednesday onwards. They've been gradually reopening during the day, but it's the southern

1:07.0

half of the UK which is going to start suffering as from dawn really tomorrow the 18th

1:13.7

we are going to see all trains in Wales cancelled the great western line which runs from

1:21.6

London Paddington via Reading and Swindon is going to stop at Bristol Parkway it's not going

1:27.2

in to Wales and there will be

1:29.5

no trains running. It's a decision, say, network rail, that they don't take lightly at all. But

1:35.1

the big problem for railways is not that trains themselves aren't perfectly capable of running

1:41.9

in all weathers. It is the stuff that gets onto the line,

1:47.8

whether those are fallen trees or indeed trampolines.

1:52.2

And the last time we saw disruption on this scale,

1:55.1

which was two years ago, just before the coronavirus pandemic

1:58.9

really got into gear,

2:00.7

lots and lots of trampolines around the country, they're in. before the coronavirus pandemic really got into gear.

2:04.0

Lots and lots of trampolines around the country.

2:06.0

They're in people's back gardens.
