This week, the press had a buffet of Dick Cheney's stories to dig into, and there's no question about which story they chose to gorge on.

Tough questions hang up with the vice president and his behavior this weekend.

There's a shooting. Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a prominent Republican lawyer

as they were both hunting for quail.

But 78-year-old Harry Whittington remains in this hospital

with birdshot on the right side of his face and chest.

Reporters wanting to know, but not finding out,

why no official told the public.

I mean, the vice president knew immediately,

oh, no, I've shot somebody accidentally, and it takes 22 hours.
