Summary

FBI Behavior Chief Goes Inside the Mind of the Charlie Kirk Assassin: Fear, Family & Lone Wolf Patterns

In this gripping segment of Hidden Killers Live, Tony Brueski and the team sit down with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke to dissect the accused assassin of Charlie Kirk. On the surface, the 22-year-old suspect seemed like the last person you’d expect to commit such an act: a suburban Utah upbringing, a Mormon family described as “squeaky clean,” an academic star student with a scholarship, and no criminal record. But as Dreeke explains, appearances can be deceiving.

Drawing on his decades of FBI counterintelligence and behavioral analysis experience, Dreeke explores how the suspect’s profile fits the pattern of a lone-wolf assassin — but with important deviations. Unlike methodical planners like Ted Kaczynski, this was not a professional hit. Instead, Dreeke points to impulsivity, emotional hijacking, and “leakage” — the unintentional signals people give off when they are spiraling toward violence.

The discussion dives into how fear becomes the primal driver when curiosity dies. Robin explains how rigid belief systems, isolation, and identity conflict can escalate into rage when someone lacks the tools to process emotions in healthy ways. The hosts explore whether a triggering event, perhaps connected to the suspect’s personal relationships, could have been the final spark.

This segment pulls back the curtain on the psychology of lone-wolf violence — showing how fear, not ideology, often drives people to the edge.

What new things have we learned over the weekend?

What has been standing out to you?

I know the big question most people have, and I don't know that we're ever going to truly get a

satisfactory answer to it, but is the why. What led to all of this? What have you been finding out?

1:06.8

Quite a few things. Nothing that's shockingly unusual with him as an assassin, but what's interesting, though, is anytime someone kind of fits a pattern, I'd like to kind of see what doesn't fit a pattern because it's a lot easier to kind of see what's different than there is what is. And with him, we're getting a lot of leakage.

1:29.0

You know, this is not the case where we're hunting for someone for months or weeks or

even just a number of days because he was caught pretty rapidly.

1:37.3

And the reason why he was caught so rapidly is multiple areas here that we're gaining a lot

of data on to help us assess what we're seeing.

And that is not just was he attempted assassination and assassination in front of 3,000 people,
