For Ampere Music, it's all songs considered, I'm Bob Boylin, with this show about our favorite

0:05.6

new artists of 2023 so far. We'll define a new artist as someone who's released their debut album

0:12.3

or EP in the first half of 2023. This year we reach out to our Ampere Member stations and ask

0:18.4

some of the DJs across the country to send us a song by their favorite new artist of the year so far.

0:24.8

We begin in Jacksonville, Florida and the artist, Blanchell. This is Matt Shaw with WJCT's

0:31.2

Jacksonville Music Experience. LA by way of New York City artist Blanchell released one of my

0:36.6

favorite debut of the year and they're one of several artists that caught my ear by heralding

0:41.1

the return of Grunge. As Blanchell, singer-songwriter Sabrina Tidal-Bomber writes tight songs with

0:47.0

0:52.8

0:58.5

1:09.0

Tidal-Bombs expressions of vulnerabilities turn more inward. Scream singing one of the song's

1:14.0

most cutting and visually engaging lines. I'm alone when I live at your house. When I slip, I live at

1:20.0

your house. There's a jaggedness and a soft loud dynamism to the song that along with Blanchell's

1:25.6

rye commentary on bad behavior, to me is very Grunge. Here's my favorite artist of 2023 so far.

1:32.8

Here's Blanchell with Olympus.

1:50.2

That's too cool for you. A die to spend the night if you belong. All my friends think that I'm busted.

2:03.5

A battle in bliss makes you house. Still sounds like birds and spells like vodka. You always

2:12.3

self-dualker. I want to save myself your part of my addiction. I just keep you in kitchen while I grind.

2:42.3

I can't get through into a year. I'll sweat out the drugs of the song.

2:51.6

Then my heart's sleeping, but I wish I remember when we kissed, but now it's faded.
