0:18.4	some of the DJs across the country to send us a song by their favorite new artist of the year so far.
0:24.8	We begin in Jacksonville, Florida and the artist, Blanchell. This is Matt Shaw with WJCT's
0:31.2	Jacksonville Music Experience. LA by way of New York City artist Blanchell released one of my
0:36.6	favorite debut of the year and they're one of several artists that caught my ear by heralding
0:41.1	the return of Grunge. As Blanchell, singer-songwriter Sabrina Tidal-Bomber writes tight songs with
0:47.0	hooky melodies. Yet within this impervious package, Blanchell's music is about the leaks and the
0:52.8	fissures. Can't get through the winter. At your house, sweat out the drugs all through the summer.
0:58.5	Let my heart sleep in the gutter. Tidal-Bombs sings on a libous, a standout track from Blanchell's
1:03.5	self-titled debut. Built on a somber minor chord progression, the track builds sonic layers as
1:09.0	Tidal-Bombs expressions of vulnerabilities turn more inward. Scream singing one of the song's
1:14.0	most cutting and visually engaging lines. I'm alone when I live at your house. When I slip, I live at
1:20.0	your house. There's a jaggedness and a soft loud dynamism to the song that along with Blanchell's
1:25.6	rye commentary on bad behavior, to me is very Grunge. Here's my favorite artist of 2023 so far.
