0:28.0 | And I've been a member of an, I've been a member of Al-Anon for a long while. |
0:35.0 | And I, um, I only joined Al-Anon because I absolutely had to. I had already joined Alcoholics Anonymous and I thought that should meet all my needs, |
0:42.0 | but I had problems other than alcohol, and one of them was all the other people in my life. |
0:48.0 | And I decided I had better get to Al-Anon, so I would not be a sober person who was shooting people. |
0:56.0 | That led me in because I was, when I came into AA I was exhausted and pretty sick. When I came into Al-Anon I was in |
1:08.8 | rage and very sick. So anger is a big Al-Anon issue for me. So I'm sure glad to be here. I have opinions on everything |
1:17.1 | and I might give some of them this evening and if you're new to al-enon, if you're new into this funny world of recovery in 12 steps, you need to know a couple of things. |
1:27.7 | And one of them is, as I'm only speaking for me, you can disagree with me on anything and still be a member of the program. |
1:36.0 | You know, well, I disagree, just make one athlete. |
1:38.0 | No. |
1:39.0 | He agrees with anybody in the program and that's why we have the traditions and we who are cranky disagreeable people can cooperate. |
1:48.0 | And some of us think we're Hitler and others you know think that we have no opinion on anything and let the Hitler's run things, but we can cooperate with the traditions. |
1:58.0 | So that's one thing. The other is they usually don't get people with a lot of mental health to share at meetings like this |
2:07.0 | They get people who are pretty nuts so that everyone else can feel better comparison. |
2:13.0 | So just know that if by the end of my time with you this afternoon you feel like a perfect picture of mental health is good. |
