And I'm Christopher Knight. And we are the real Brady Bros.

Yes. And what we like to do on this little podcast is that I take an episode of our original show

from somewhere between 1969 and 1974 and focus on that one episode and break it down. All of the details, who was on it, what it

was about, what it meant, what the message was, who was featured and why, and it has been a

really, really interesting kind of a project. It has been fun. We get to reminisce about our

childhood, and though that normally would be sort of a very personal kind of reflection that one shares with the friend, as we do it, we have an entire audience who was there with us, but didn't get the inner story, and we perhaps have missed the outer story, the view of the show, which now we're getting more

familiar with as it's been 50 years since I've watched like Father of the Year, which is the

episode today that we're going to review. And am I glad that we picked Father of the Year?

This is one of those shows that like you, Chris, you, your character, Peter, and mine, Greg, are not in a great deal.

We're kind of incidental, mostly played up in the subplot. The episode heavily features the Marcia character, Marie McCormick.

And if we can get her as a guest, we might have to do this episode again from her perspective.

Because I'm sure it would be quite different.

There's something about this and watching this because I don't think I have seen this since perhaps it aired.

And not having been in much of it, well, we're off in the school room or not on the set unless we're actually involved in the scene.

So there was so much of it that was kind of new and refreshing.

And I was particularly struck by the authenticity of it, the innocence of it, and the

sensitivity of the writing as the writers in this first year, and we weren't very far into

this first year, are really, really building this concept, the concept of two families becoming one.

This whole first season was written with a purpose in mind, and that was to solidify, if you will, to project the acceptance of the step-parent to the half of

the family that he wasn't or she wasn't natural to. And all the episodes either are

overtly about that or about somebody feeling neglected in this new conglomerate and needing to leave
