My dad wanted me to be him and I wasn't him.

But that doesn't mean that I wasn't identified with him.

I was hugely identified him to the extent that when my brother called me to say that our dad was gone.

And those are the words that he used.

He called me at 12.31 morning,

I picked up the phone and the first thing I heard was the words, dad's gone. I mean, I hit the

floor. I mean, I almost lost consciousness. So my identification with my father and my knowledge

that my father's story was the central story of my life was always there.

Okay, my name is Tom Juneau.

I am a writer, mostly for magazines for the last

35 years, but now I have a book out, and it's called, in the days of my youth, I was told what it

means to be a man. It's a memoir published by Doubleday. So some of you might recognize that name,
