The Israelis say they agreed to stop firing to allow residents there to stock up and supplies.

A spokesman for Hamas confirmed that for the next few hours they would stop launching rockets

at Israel.

Yesterday, four Palestinian children, all from the same family, were killed by Israeli artillery

fire as they were playing on a Gaza beach. The Israeli authorities said that deaths were a

tragic outcome.

Their intended targets had been Hamas militants.

Yoland Nel in Gaza says families there have been finding it increasingly hard to cope during

the violence of the past nine days.

Henin's mother sits quietly in her kitchen rolling out small balls of dough that she fills with

ground meat and folds over to make some bussic pastries. These are for her family's Iftar,

the meal that breaks the daily dawn to dusk fast during the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan.
