When you think of the things that have changed the course of history, what comes

to mind? Great leaders? Revolutionary new inventions? It's safe to say that for

most people, what comes to mind is not prayer and fasting. However, in this

message from Acts chapter 12, verse 25, through chapter 14, verse 28, David

Platt points us to the way God advanced the spread of the gospel in the early

days of the church through his people's dependence on him and prayer and

fasting. So also today, the church should rely fully on God's power and wisdom

as we seek to carry out his will. God is still able to use fasting and prayer to

would see the glory of God shining in church as we just sang about. If you are

visiting with us, maybe from another church, your father of Christ, visiting from

another church, we hope that you will feel welcomed amidst brothers and sisters

this morning. And then if you are a member of this faith family, we hope that you

did not eat breakfast because we are fasting together as a faith family today.

chose to disregard that memo from last week and you ate breakfast week, we are
