The stock market I think is going to have a very big day based on the massive tax cuts that we're very much in the process of getting approved.

But based on the vote we had last week the stock market has been reacting unbelievably well.

And that is how the day started anyway, but not how it finished.

The Dow at one point soaring more than 300 points of the highs of the day.

And yes, the index did close up, 58 points.

But both the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ fell off sharply and ended lower. The S&P 500 having its biggest

reversal since February of 2016, the NASDAQ, the bigger loser down more than 1%. So what changed as tax euphoria wears off?

It looks like fears of a government shut down maybe back on investor radar.

Yeah, hi Brian, the two sides are talking again.

You remember there was a kerfuffle last week, but now Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi say they are going to go to the White House on Thursday to meet with the president. They're expected to hash out some negotiations over this government spending showdown.

Remember, December 8th, Friday is the day on which the government will run out of money if they can't come up with something.

Here's the statement from Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi saying,

we're glad the White House has reached out

and asked for a second meeting. We hope the president will go into this meeting with an

open mind rather than deciding that an agreement can't be reached beforehand.
