Summary
As far-right extremists rioted in Knowsley over the presence of asylum seekers at a Merseyside hotel, it's time to ask: when can those responsible be held accountable? It's politicians and media outlets who've made this possible - and if their rhetoric continues to escalate, far uglier scenes beckon.
We're joined by refugee and campaigner Kolbassia Haossou, and anti-fascist youth organiser Benny Hunter.

| 0:00.0 | Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the show. Actions, consequences. For a long time now, there's |
| 0:22.8 | been a deliberate campaign by media outlets, by politicians, not just confined to the |
| 0:29.4 | Conservatives by any means, to demonise the scapegoat, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers. Very |
| 0:35.2 | convenient in a society's crisis, written as ours, where people lack properly funded public |
| 0:42.3 | services, where they're stuck in social housing, waiting lists, where their wages have stagnated |
| 0:48.7 | and fallen, where there's a lack of secure jobs, to blame or redirect many of the problems |
| 0:55.7 | that exist in society at some of the most vulnerable people on the face of the earth. And that |
| 1:00.4 | rhetoric has become ever uglier, particularly, of course, on the conservative front benches, |
| 1:05.8 | and with home secretaries who I'm afraid only get ever uglier in their rhetoric, |
| 1:12.0 | where the braverment, of course, the latest one, almost the parody of a hateful politician. |
| 1:17.7 | Two days ago, there was a far-right riots in Nozli in Merzyside, and this centred on a hotel |
| 1:26.8 | providing refuge for asylum seekers. Let's just have a look first at some of the scenes, |
| 1:35.4 | which were taken by the mobile phones of what was happening in Nozli. |
| 1:47.6 | How do you welcome, I can hear it. |
| 1:58.0 | All arguments are proper, proper, both mobbier. |
| 2:02.4 | You can see that's a very, very significant crowd, that's a very large crowd of people |
| 2:19.6 | who have of course gathered there. Let's just see how those scenes then later degenerated. |
| 2:33.3 | So there were reports of fireworks going off, smashed glass, locks flying, |
| 2:56.2 | and clashes with the police. And you can hear what the the chant was to give your |
| 3:01.5 | flavour, of course, of what the political, I suppose, orientation of this mob was. |
| 3:16.2 | So they're yelling there, get them out, get them out, get them out. Ugly scenes indeed, |
| 3:21.1 | and I suppose the danger is, I'm afraid well-founded danger is that this is a flavour of worse to come. |
