I'm Pete, joined by Darius and Mike. And while we are dying to talk about this whole new team, and that'll be probably the next pod called Whole New Team, right? Where we talk about just a crazy summer

that we haven't been able to talk to or talk about on a day-to-day basis. But before we do

that, we want to say a proper goodbye to three longtime Lakers that are champions with this team,

and that's KCP, Kyle Kuzma, and Alex Caruso. Let's start with Contavia's Caldwell Pope. He was with Detroit, and it's

funny, the musical chairs that the NBA can be. He was with Detroit, but he was coming off of his

rookie deal. And he'd been in negotiations, you know, how those goes for different contract figures.

It's funny how all of these storylines are tied together, right?

And so that leaves KCP without a home fairly late in free agency.

And the Lakers signed him to a one year, I believe, $18 million deal. And in the press conference, Rob Polanka called him Manna from Heaven. Right. And over that time, I've got some thoughts that I'll share in a bit, just seeing him kind of come out of his shell a little bit who's very shy when at least I first met him. And he grew quite a bit in that respect all the way to the point where he was killing

it in game. I always remember game four of the NBA finals as a all-time great Laker role player
