inequality and taxation, one of our favorite topics. Stay tuned for all of that. Let's get straight to it. Germany's center right,

Christian Democratic Party has won the most seats in the country's federal election. But the real

story of the vote isn't in the center. It's on the fringes. We have both the populist right and the

populist left and making big gains at the polls.

Let's start with the bigger picture. So the conservative CDU took just under 30% of the vote.

It's second worst result in history, but still enough for them to win. That just shows the

fragmentation of politics at the moment. The far-right AFD, on the other hand, scored its best

ever win at nearly 21%.

Chancellor Olaf Schultz's Social Democrats got just 16%.
