Summary

Trading can be where fantasy leagues are won and lost, and most people flat-out stink at it. In this episode, Jeff breaks down how to actually pull off deals that make your roster better. He covers the dos and don’ts of trading, how to spot sell-high and buy-low windows, and the art of negotiation to get trades done. From timing your offers to framing them in a way your league-mates can’t resist, you’ll walk away with a full trade strategy playbook.

Yo, what's up?

It's Thursday, September 25th.

And week four is here. Starts tonight. You know, we get to this point

0:24.1

of the season almost every year, maybe a little bit in weeks one and two, but definitely week

0:29.3

three, definitely week four, where trading becomes a constant, where I'm getting questions

0:35.4

about it all the time. People are thinking about it all the

0:37.9

time. So I figured it was a good time to just step in and talk a little bit about trading strategy.

A lot of times, yes, we talk draft strategy for how many months. We talk zero RB and hero RB and

0:50.5

value based and tier based and all that. But once we get into the season, we really don't get the opportunity to truly talk about the strategies because a lot of times it is just rinse and repeat. 1:25.1

that that's part of the game. Like you have to do it. It's prerequisite for playing fantasy football that you have to go out and you

1:32.3

have to make trades. The reality is you don't. You could draft really well. You could make a few

1:38.0

timely waiver ads, a couple streamers here and there, and be just fine through the course of

1:43.0

a fantasy football season.

1:44.6

I often find that people trade out of boredom. They trade for the sake of trading, is what I

1:50.1

often say. They're moving pieces around the board, but they're not really advancing anywhere.

1:55.1

And sometimes they do it out of panic where it's like, I have to shake things up. I'm

1:59.9

0 and 3. I'm freaking out. And

2:02.8

usually doesn't accomplish the main goal because there is one main goal in trading.
