Summary

The Mets have been great at home and they are getting huge crowds for this early in the season. There is so much positivity with Steve Cohen right now. Mets pitching has been outstanding so far as well. Jesse Winker talked about how the stadium being full is a huge advantage for the Mets. Boomer doesn’t think they’ll need Grimace this year. Gio said Fat Joe was at the Knicks game, and wherever he goes, failure follows. The Yankees World Series Game, Kamala Harris, California wildfires. It’s the Fat Joe curse. Gio said they can’t have him at any more games. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Knicks losing game 2 at the Garden. Coach Thibs did not like the huge discrepancy between foul shots between the two teams. Charles Barkley had a message for Mavs GM Nico Harrison: stop with the press conferences. The Yankees lost in Cleveland as the Guardians hit back to back homers off of Clarke Schmidt. The Mets beat the Phillies but Edwin Diaz made it interesting. Carlos Mendoza talked about Diaz’s performance after the HR. Russell Wilson met the media and said some generic things. Jalen Milroe was asked about potentially joining the QB room with Wilson and Jameis Winston. Vikings RB Aaron Jones talked about being an older QB and also talked about trying to get older women since he was a kid. Boomer and C-Lo did a Rangers podcast yesterday. In the final segment of the hour, a young guy named Jared is here. He works in the digital department here at Audacy and he’s been tasked with getting the YouTube numbers up for Al & Jerry’s Postgame Podcast.

All right, Boomer and Geo, coming to you live for the little Ford Tuff studio on the fan and CBS Sports Network Metz in the midst of another winning streak.

0:12.7

Looks great at City Field.

0:14.7

And, you know, this is the Juan Soto effect as well.

0:17.2

It's not just him.

0:18.2

I mean, it's the magic of the season last year in the way that they

0:22.5

picked up speed, steam into the NLCS, and then of course the offseason and getting Juan Soto.

0:28.0

But this is exactly what the fan base wanted, was a team that was relevant, a team that could go out and get the biggest

0:35.2

free agent and a team that's winning early on in the season. It feels the exact opposite of last year at this time. And it is, I mean,

0:44.2

anybody wants to talk about, you know, Juan Soto and maybe it's not worth it or this or that.

0:49.2

It's a long way to go. But look up in the stands in April, you know, before school is out on crappy weather

0:55.8

days. And it looks like a late season, regular season game where, you know, they're fighting for a

1:02.8

playoff berth. I was just thinking about Friday night in the indoor walkoff. And I was just,

1:08.6

you know, I'm sitting here laying in bed sick as a dog.

1:11.1

Yeah.

1:11.5

And I'm going, man, this is exactly what Steve Cohen had to envision that somehow, some way,

1:19.0

you'd have a Friday night game when door would have a walk off and the place would go bananas.

1:24.6

And, you know, that's part of the bigger plan here.

1:27.1

Like we tend to focus on

1:29.2

the Mets and, and whether or not they're going to make it to the World Series. But the bigger plan

1:34.4

is the whole development around City Field. That's the bigger plan. And the more nights like that,

1:41.1

the more series like that against the Cardinals, beating the Phillies last night, you know, and everybody participating.
