On a late summer morning in 1977, a five-year-old boy ran around the school playground with his friends.

It was his first day of kindergarten in Niagara Falls, New York, and the little boy was having a blast.

He'd just gotten over a nasty cold, and so now he was thrilled to be feeling good enough again

that he could actually keep up with the other kids.

But as he chased after them

over to the swings, the little boy began to feel strange. His head began to feel really heavy,

and also he couldn't really concentrate, and then the next thing he knew, he was waking up in the

school nurse's office. The nurse was looking at him with a smile on her face, but the little boy

could tell she was clearly worried about something.

She told him he'd had something called a seizure.

Tears began to well up in the boy's eyes, and the nurse immediately told him that his mom was on the way and she'd be there soon.

The boy wiped the tears away and tried to put on a brave face, but inside, he was terrified.

He wanted to believe his mom would show up and make everything okay again, but at the same time,

he had never felt so strange before in his whole life, and he knew deep down that there were some things
