On Christmas Eve of 1971, Julian and her mother Maria arrived at the airport to catch their

flight leaving Lima and bound for Pucalpa. The airport was in chaos.

Several flights had been canceled the day before, and now there were more passengers than there

were flights available. Among the passengers trying to get a seat on their flight was Warner
