Henry's latest book, Our Man in New York, delves into MI6's covert campaign to bring the United States into the Second World War.

Our deputy digital editor, Eleanor Evans, met Henry in London to find out more.

What can you tell us about the situation in America at the time when your book opens?

The situation is looking, it's looking bleak for Britain. The book begins in June 1940. So it's in the days

after Dunkirk. And Britain is obviously in a perilous situation.

But meanwhile, over in America, there are polls suggesting that only 8%, 8% of the American people

think that now is the time for America to come into the war. And from a historical distance,

you might think, so what? Why does that really matter?
