Nehemiah chapter 6, verse 9.

But now, oh God, strengthen my hands.

Oh, this is one of my favorite verses in the book of Nehemiah, it's so simple. Obviously you can memorize it.

I mean it's just a sentence. It's almost just a phrase, but now, oh God, strengthen my hands.

But now, oh God, strengthen my hands. Just think about the context here. So Nehemiah and others are rebuilding these walls

around Jerusalem and they're facing all kinds of challenges from the people around them who are

threatening them, who are trying to discourage them, or trying to accuse them. It's the same thing

we saw in Ezra, now happening in Nehemiah.

It's the reminder that whenever we are doing God's work, we will face challenges in this world.

Don't be surprised when this happens. But what I love about this verse is this picture of Nehemiah,

just looking up to God, my hands hurt.

God, I'm tempted not to go on with this work.

And I need your strength in my hands.

Even just the picture of in my hands, like this is not even a request for something massive.

This is a request for help, for strength, for his hands to do the little bit of work they're

doing on this particular wall.

Isn't it good to know that no request before our God is too big and no request is too small? And there's nothing we can ask for from God that's

too big to ask for. And there's nothing too small. God cares about cancer and he cares about

colds and everything in between. And so let's pray for God's help in every single way we need it,

knowing that God hears us and will help us in every small and big way we need.

Oh God, we praise you for your faithfulness to provide in the details of our lives,
